Alison Brown

As a psychologist, past teacher, and parent, I feel privileged to work collaboratively with children, adolescents, families, and schools to help advocate for children, to allow their voices to be heard, and to provide understanding and support in bringing out the best in all young people.

Giving children courage and skills to navigate difficult, confusing, or anxious situations in their lives builds their confidence and resilience. With a focus on helping young people better understand themselves and their circumstances, goals and strategies centre around realistic expectations, skill development, and hope for a preferred future.

Having worked in schools as both a teacher and psychologist, I bring an understanding of educational, social, emotional, and family issues. With a particular interest in both narrative and cognitive behavioural therapies, my approach focuses on empowering young people to own their story and lived experiences, and become active agents in shaping their future.

Our young people are living through ever-changing and uncertain times, with no real assurance of what the years ahead will hold. Life is challenging at every age, in different ways. Holding space for young people to share their thoughts, worries and dreams, supporting young people on their journey, and building their emotional strength is my priority.
