I am a Psychologist and mother of three young children. Originally from rural Western Australia, I have travelled extensively, spending time in Europe, Asia and USA. I have lived and worked in Perth, Canberra and now Melbourne, which has been my home for the past 14 years.
I completed my Master of Counselling Psychology at Monash University in early 2011 after writing my thesis on the impact of animal assisted interventions on the psychotherapeutic relationship. During this time, I worked for Eating Disorders Victoria as a helpline volunteer and later as a support group co-ordinator. Following graduation, I worked on various crisis helplines including Suicide Helpline Victoria, Suicide Call Back Service and Mensline Australia. I also spent some time working in various primary schools on behalf of OnPsych, before moving into private practice.
My early training was focused on CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), however over the years I have become interested in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment therapy) and Schema Therapy. I believe that a good therapeutic relationship is a necessary foundation for successful outcomes. As such I focus on a thorough and ongoing assessment process and take a collaborative approach to goal setting. I have particular interest in Eating Disorders, mood disorders and anxiety disorders. I work mainly with adults and adolescents but am open to working with families and children in certain circumstances.
